Plan International AU Liaison and Pan Africa Program Office is based here in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. Plan International has a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the AU and has signed the host agreement for this AU Liaison and Pan Africa Program office with the Ethiopia Government.
Plan’s Liaison office to the AU and Pan Africa Program is aligned with Plan International’s strategy One Plan One Goal pursuing contact with key decision-makers who can support the realization of lasting change for children. The Pan Africa/AU Liaison office contributes to a lasting environment in which the rights of children and youth are respected, protected, and fulfilled. The office will realize its interventions within the AU and its Agencies and Mechanisms across Africa through the One Plan AU Strategy. Accordingly, the office will promote child rights and child protection, education, youth empowerment/employability, striving for non-discrimination, equality and inclusion as well as ensure child participation. The office is actively involved in:
Improving implementations of the African Charter on the Rights and Welfare of the Child (ACRWC) and all other relevant AU resolutions on the promotion and protection of child rights.
Enhancing international law and policy development on child rights and child protection.
Mainstreaming child rights at the AU, particularly into other human rights processes.
The Pan Africa Accountant will support the AU Liaison and Pan Africa Program office by working closely with the Finance and Operations Manager in Supporting the overall financial management activities of the office.
Specific key responsibilities include:
Preparation of Monthly Payroll, Income tax payable , Pension contribution and Withholding taxes
Encoding of all transaction (payments and receipts) in the Financial system_ SAP
Timely Preparation and depositing of the Provident fund to staff respective provident Fund Account
Review petty cash payments and preparation of petty cash replenishment by Cheque
Follow up with banks for payment Transfers and collecting Advices.
Preparation of Cheque and payments instruction(wire request) for payments,
Settling Government Statutory obligation as per the time schedule for each payment to avoid Financial Penalty such as Income tax, Pension contribution and Withholding taxes.
Prepare Foreign Currency permit letters so that the travellers can collect their currency timely
Maintain Staff and ledger for advances to ensure advances are tracked for timely liquidation.
Preparing monthly Bank reconciliation statements to ensure proper cash management.
Ensuring all cash receipts from Vendors are collected and attached to the respective documents before providing the cheque.
Ensuring all payment documents are properly filled and support for smooth audit trials.
Follow Intercompany recharges and clearing intercompany Account
Monthly clearing all controlling account
Follow cash forecasting based on Plan cash forecasting time line
Insure all documents are stamped, signed and documented properly
Job Requirement
Educational Qualification and Experience
BA degree Accounting and Finance
Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
Excellent proven knowledge in MS Office (Excel, Word, Outlook)
Knowledge of SAP Financial Software is an added advantage.
