The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research Institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of infectious diseases and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Junior Researcher - Research Nurse for HIV-AGYW Project.
Key responsibilities:
· Together with the Research Team conduct and lead AGYW aggregate venue identification, venue verification and community mapping
· Recruitment of Key informants and study participants
· Assist the Research Team in the screening of study participants and obtain participants informed consents
· Conduct and coordinate clinical procedures required in the study protocol
· Together with the Research Team, collect, compile, verify and review data and ensures proper data transfer to Data Management Unit
· Assist the Research Team and investigators with any clinical procedures as necessary
· Provide HIV pretest and posttest counseling services to study participants
· Perform any Health related activities including linkage of HIV positive subjects to routine HIV care and treatment facilities
· Protect and care the study participants and ensures their retention in the study
· Perform supervision to patient’s house as required
· Cooperate in ensuring quality control activities in the conduct of the studies
· Perform miscellaneous jobs-related to the project as assigned by the principal investigator and/or project coordinator and/or the team leader
Education: - BSc in Nursing from recognized College/University
-Minimum GPA 3.00 for male and 2.75 for female
Certificate Trainings:
1. Registered Professional Nurse
2. Training in voluntary HIV counseling and testing
3. Training in GCP and or research ethics in an advantage
Experience: 0 year experience
Other Competencies:
1. Knowledge of medical and scientific terminologies and strong interpersonal communication skills
2. Phlebotomy and other clinical/technical skills.
3. Computer competency including proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
4. Ability to maintain study confidentiality
5. Willingness to work with potentially infection risk environment.
