To support IRC's activities in strengthening WASH systems at woreda, regional and national levels, IRC Ethiopia is seeking a young professional with strong research skills.
IRC Ethiopia provides advisory, consultancy, research, innovation and knowledge management services in the water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) sector. It is a subsidiary of IRC (www.ircwash.org), the international think-and-do tank headquartered in the Hague, the Netherlands. We work with governments, NGOs, businesses and people around the world to find long-term solutions to the global crisis in WASH services. We work closely with the Government of Ethiopia and its development partners, to implement the 'One WASH National Programme' vision of an effective and co-ordinated sector in the country.
IRC has worked with key stakeholders in Ethiopia since the 1990s to improve delivery of water and sanitation services. Equipped with extensive, in-depth knowledge of the country and a growing portfolio of activities, IRC established a legally registered office in Addis Ababa in 2015. The team in Ethiopia now numbers 10 staff and associates, supported by a team of international experts.
Driven by our Agenda for Change we seek to trigger a shift in the WASH business from short-term interventions to sustainable WASH services delivery. Our business focuses on innovation and taking to scale the conditions for high quality WASH services that reach everyone in a town or woreda.
We are expanding our activities and team to support the sector, particularly our work at the regional and woreda levels. This vacancy is an exciting opportunity for a young professional to join our team to support new projects and activities, and to develop a career in the WASH sector. The position is partly funded by the Young Experts Programme and will include a structured programme of professional development with training and mentoring in Ethiopia and the Netherlands.
The young expert will be based in our office in Addis Ababa, initially contracted for a period of two years, with opportunities for extension within the context of IRCs Ethiopia country programme. There will be a probation phase. The young expert is expected to start in October 2017.
IRC Ethiopia will offer a competitive remuneration package, and outstanding opportunities for professional and career development within an international network. The remuneration package includes pension and provident fund contributions, transport, communication allowance where applicable and health insurance.
