GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes.
In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian Government and International Donors. GIZ-Sustainable Textile Program is looking to recruit Senior Sustainable Textile Officer as per the detail below:
Job Title: Senior Sustainable Textile Officer
Remuneration: As per the GIZ scale

Duties and responsibilities:
· Plan and implement efficient awareness-raising activities to promote compliance with international conventions, national labor and environmental laws and international standards and guidelines
· Provide technical and organizational advice to implement Environmental and social standards
· Build the capacity of labor and environmental inspectors with appropriate inspection techniques
· support selected textile industries in skill development to improve productivity and efficiency to meet the responsibilities associated with their use of global supply chains
· Enhance the skills and service delivery of private consulting firms and service providers, who then act as environmental advisors to the industry ,with respect to the management of water and waste water, chemicals, energy efficiency, electrical safety and the use of environmentally friendly production techniques
· Contribute to the provision of technical support to relevant stakeholders, including federal and state governments, workers’ and employers’ representatives in social compliance, fire safety and efficient dispute resolution mechanism
· create stakeholders platforms for cooperation and networking
· develop ways of improving national social and environmental standards
· support NGOs and civil societies committed to upholding workers’ rights
· Other related activities as assigned
Qualifications and Experience:
· University Degree in Engineering, environment, law and related fields
· Excellent skill in reading, writing and speaking English
· Computer literacy
· High degree of initiative, efficiency, team-working, integrity and accountability
· Readiness to upgrade skills and continuous learning
· At least 5 years of working experience in a comparable position
· Confidential handling of data and information;
