Background
As an international cooperation enterprise for sustainable development with worldwide operations, the federally owned Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH supports the German Government in achieving its development-policy objectives.
In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors.
For its Strengthening Drought Resilience (SDR) program activities in Afar Region, GIZ is looking, for a Technical Project Coordinator as per the detail below:-
Position: Project Field Officer
Place of Work: Elidaar, Ayisaita & Afambo Semera

Required Candidate: Three
Responsibilities:
§ The Project Field Officer works under the Technical Project Coordinator; he/she assists with planning and implementation of project activities in the respective Woredas and Kebeles.
§ The Project Field Officer support pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in the planning, coordination and organisation of project-relevant activities to improve livestock and plant production;
§ He/she prepares project related outlines and briefings for relevant stakeholders with regards to community needs and activity implementations in coordination with the Technical Coordinator and other project partners;
Tasks:
§ Report preparation on a regular basis.
Other duties/additional Tasks:
§ The Field Officer performs other duties and tasks at the request of the Technical Coordinator or the International Programme Manager as deemed necessary from time to time.
Qualifications and Experience:
§ BA degree in Social Science, Development Studies, Mgt, Economics, Sociology, and related fields,
§ Minimum of 5 years’ experience with both, Government and NGO experience,
§ Good knowledge of planning, monitoring skills, techniques and background information of the region,
§ Basic computer skills;
§ Plus willingness to work in a team and with communities in remote Kebeles,
§ Working experience with GTZ/GIZ Projects and /or programmes is an asset.
§ Very good communication and interpersonal skills for liaising with public officials and particularly local pastoral/agro-pastoral communities
§ Moderation, facilitation skills to lead effective meetings between government officials and community representatives. .
§ Afar language is a must, good knowledge of English and Amharic.
