Organizational Overview: The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) associated with former President William J. Clinton’s Foundation is currently operating in Ethiopia carrying out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. We are committed to increasing our effectiveness through an innovative programming approach that optimizes quality, impact and scale. Being the largest CHAI field office worldwide, we currently employ over 100 staff working in the following six programs: The Maternal, Newborn and Health (MNH), Child Survival, Vaccines Drug Access, Lab Services, Global Health Financing, and Nutrition Programs.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision and guidance of the Program Manager, the regional immunization officer (RIO) will provide both management and technical support to the regions, zones, woredas and health facilities on vaccines and cold chain management, new vaccine introduction, implementation of immunization strategic planning and execution and other routine immunization activities. The RIO will plan, implement and monitor CHAI project activities in their respective areas of assignment to improve the cold chain and vaccine management system strengthening activities to transform vaccine delivery and improve immunization services in Ethiopia. Specifically, the RIO will support the cold chain management activities at sub national level that will be conducted by trained cold chain technicians, support the training and supervision of vaccine handlers working at cold stores and health facilities monitoring evaluation and documentation of the evidence generation efforts around the piloting of mHealth, new cold chain equipment's, fridge tag utilization of the CHAI project activities in addition to subnational support of the planning and implantation of immunization program. The RIO expected to submit weekly, monthly reports on the implementation and monitoring of the above activities to SPM/PM and provide verbal and written feed back to RHB, woredas and health facility.
