· Participate actively in reflections and discussions on the evolution of MSF programs in the mission, contributing with his/her background and experience to the improvement of overall performance, adapting it to the changing reality and context.
· Participates in the collection of medical information (meetings, reports, articles, etc.) and data (epidemiological data, statistics, etc.) in Somali region.
· Support projects’ development by answering medical questions from the field, participating in briefings and debriefings of medical staff and replacing temporarily a member of the field team when necessary, in order to keep a smooth functioning of the projects.
· In support of the medical coordinator, represent MSF in meetings or with different stakeholders in Somali region. Assist the MedCo in the stakeholder mapping (organigram of MoH, etc.)
· Follow-up patients referred by MSF field teams to Jijiga, organizing their transport, setting their further referral to reference facilities previously identified, doing follow-up on the treatment they receive and their evolution, and carrying out the administrative tasks associated, in order to keep special attention to most the complicated or sensitive cases.
· Close follow-up of national protocols and guidelines and translation to the project activities.
· Monitoring the medical component of project(s) implementation.
§ Assisting the project coordinator and the medical teams in drafting the project proposal and follow-up.
§ Participating together with the Medical Coordinator in the definition and follow-up of medical staff needs, other medical resources needed, and budgeting.
§ Collaborating and assisting in the production of medical reports.
§ Identifying priority needs, other potential areas of action, and emergency situations.
§ Focal point for technical medical questions from the field to RHB
· Regular field visits
· Support in epidemiological surveillance in Somali region. Collection of data from different sources, verifying all rumors and ensuring regular reporting to MedCo and Emergency Surveillance team with analysis of trends that may need further investigation and follow-up.
· With support from the MedCo and the Emergency Surveillance System (ESS) FieldCo and PMR, proactively maintains routine and ad-hoc contacts rounds with the aim of systematically maintain surveillance in the whole region and performs routine calls/visits to gather medical data from the relevant sources.
· Takes part to alerts’ verification and assessments, in case of alerts’ detection.
· On the request of the Medical Coordinator, carries out extra tasks (one-off reinforcement for a field team, participation in an evaluation, etc
