Organizational Context
HOPE Enterprises (HEs) is a home-grown non-governmental organization registered in Ethiopia and headquartered in Addis Ababa. HEs has been engaged in development work in Oromia, Amhara, SNNP, Gambella, Beneshangul Gumuz regions and in Addis Ababa city administration. It has 7 schools, 3 vocational centers (TVET) and a College, where over 6000 children and young adults are learning and being trained. It works particularly with the poorest of the poor and destitute communities with the aim of alleviating poverty through human development and mobilizing holistic attributes of the poor. HEs forges partnerships with the Government, International and Local NGOs, the Private Sector, individuals and the poor by designing a number of projects and programs.
Duties and Responsibilities
The Executive Director will initiate, manage, lead, direct and shape a vision for HEs in line with the established policies, principles and operating practices of HEs as well as the political, social, cultural and economic environment in which HEs is operating in. In addition, the Executive Director is expected to advance financial, institutional and human resource stability and sustainability of HEs and foster its visibility as a value-driven organization in Ethiopia at local, national and global levels.

Qualification and Experience
Education
Advanced University Degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in fields related to HEs’ Programmatic areas is required; PhD in related areas recommended; active membership in relevant professional and value-based institutions is desirable.
Experience
More than 10 years proven track record in leading and managing big & complex institutions and development programs is required; being an active member of the civil society sector is required; experience in development sector program designing, coordinating, monitoring, evaluation and impact assessment systems is required; in-depth understanding of programming and policy at various levels is required; understanding of gender and other cross-cutting issues in development and demonstrable commitment to promoting such issues in the programmatic works is required; proven initiative, flexibility and enthusiasm in managing complex activities in a changing environment is desirable; proven social mobilization, fundraising, networking is desirable; proven strategic program communication skills is desirable; proven experience in community empowerment and inclusive development is desirable.
Skills and abilities
Excellent management and leadership skills is required; excellent skills in facilitation and capacity building for inter-linkages between staff, donors, partners & stakeholders is required; excellent conceptual, analytical, documentation & presentation skills is required; excellent verbal and written communication as well as report writing skills is required; excellent planning, prioritization and financial management skills is required; being a strategic thinker with strong problem solving and negotiation skills is required; excellent skills in program information management is desirable; demonstrable versatility in use of IT (MS Word, Excel, Access, Power-point, e-mail, etc.) is desirable; presentation and persuasion skills is desirable.
Language
Proficiency in English and familiarity with key Ethiopian languages is required.
