ROLE PURPOSE
The incumbent of this position represents SC values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. These values and principles include commitment to the mission of Save the Children international, team orientation, quality management and leadership development, introducing systems and procedures to strengthen staff motivation and productivity. The selected employee will be responsible for providing technical and managerial support to the staffs for the implementation of the Emergency Nutrition Response project. Ensure program implementation is in line with the planned budget, conducting training and monitoring effective implementation of program and ensure program performance is in line with the international and national standard.
SCOPE OF ROLE:
Reports to: Health & Nutrition Coordinator
Dimensions: Save the Children works in 9 regions in Ethiopia with a current staff complement of approximately 1988 staff and current expenditure of approximately $100+ million each year.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:
In line with SCI’s dual mandate, these key areas of accountability apply to SCI Ethiopia’s work in emergencies (acute and chronic) and in development settings.
Program Management
· Oversees the implementation of integrated health and nutrition project in three woredas and ensuring that the quality standards and state of the art are met.
· Ensures effective start up, management, implementation, monitoring, reporting and evaluation of integrated health, and nutrition projects in three Woredas.
· Provide support and guidance to the project team and implementing partners; assess training needs, plan & provides training/guidance for staff in setting up new OTP and SC sites and PHC services and IYCF activities.
· Facilitate trainings for health professionals in Community based Management Acute Malnutrition, PHC and IYCF.
· Participating in and/or leading health, nutrition, and/or multi-sectoral assessments as required.
· Manages all Save the Children resources (equipment, supplies, HR) committed to emergency and other nutrition activities
· Conducts regular field visits to provide supportive supervision to the projects.
· Leads the development of work plans, POPs, budgets, and other required program documents for integrated health and nutrition projects in three woredas.
· Closely work with the finance and program team to ensure that program budgets are realistic, that they are efficiently used complying with donor requirements, and that reports are submitted in a timely manner.
· Conducts regular field visits and review meetings with government officials to monitor the implementation of integrated health and nutrition programs.
· In collaboration with Health and Nutrition Field Manager, ensure timely preparation and implementation of phase-out strategy
Representation and communication
· Represents Save the Children in Zonal level nutrition and health coordination and other fora.
· Documents findings and recommendations of field visits for follow-up actions; shares as appropriate.
· Oversees and leads the development and submission of program reports, ensuring completeness, accuracy and timeliness for three woredas.
· Documents lessons learned in specific technical areas for three woreads.
Staff and Budget Management
· Line manager for the CMAM , IYCF, TSFP and commodity officers found in five Bale zone
· Conduct regular performance management. This includes work plans and performance reviews.
· Engages in recruitment process of staff for the project as necessary.
Other
· Performs other related tasks as requested
Child safeguarding (CSG)
· Conduct activities in accordance with the rules of the Child Safeguarding Policy, which includes reporting suspicions of child abuse,
· Ensure that all activities are seen through a child safeguarding lens;
· Be vigilant about observing possible child abuse/harm,
· Ensure all partners and beneficiaries of Save the Children are aware of the child safeguarding policy and promote the message of child safeguarding to children, beneficiary families, and community members in general,
· Conduct project risk assessment using given template and mitigation plans are addressed
Report performance of child safeguarding activities per quarter,
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Post-graduate degree in public health/nutrition preferred or Bachelor in Health related field.
· Minimum 5 years field experience in humanitarian work, including significant experience in managing integrated projects.
· Excellent leadership, coordination and management experience.
· Knowledge of latest health related technical guidelines and standards in emergency nutrition and health.
· Experience in CMAM and PHC
· Experience in budget management.
· Experience in quality assurance in a clinical setting desirable.
· Demonstrated ability for leadership and independent decision making
· Strong interpersonal skills & excellent team player.
· Willingness and ability to work in hardship environment.
· Cultural and gender sensitivity
· Fluency in written and spoken English and Afaan Oromoo is an asset.
