Consultant for Market & Value Chain Assessment
1. Role and responsibilities
The overall role/responsibility of this consultancy is to lead a Market and Value Chain Assessment under RDPP in Dollo and Bokolmayo where findings will inform the market demands and potential value chains in host and refugee camp settings. The results will be used to inform all stakeholders of the general trends in the market and value chain and more importantly to highlight areas for refugee market driven livelihoods strategies responses to produce a diverse, adaptable and highly skilled workforce that will propel and sustain Dollo Ado and Bokolmayo areas refugee camp and surrounding host community’s economic growth and development.
Specific Responsibilities
The following are the specific responsibilities expected of the Consultant
· Develop qualitative and /or quantitative assessment tools for data collection addressing focus areas defined in the ToRs
· Lead the overall data collection process that using methodology defined in the ToRs
· Training and supervision of Enumerators identified by NRC during data collection
· Assessment data processing which includes data capturing, cleaning and analysis
· PowerPoint presentation of the draft report to NRC on the findings
· Preparation of final report documenting the findings and key recommendations for NRC Addis Ababa Office
Scale and scope of position
Staff: | To train and lead a team of Enumerators that will support data collection |
Stakeholders: | Key external stakeholders the post has relationships with (e.g. UN agencies, INGOs, local NGOs, civil society, governmental bodies) |
Budgets: | No Budget responsibility |

Legal compliance: | Consultant is expected to be compliant to NRC policies and procedures |
Professional competencies for this position:
· At least a Post-graduate degree in Statistics, Economics, social sciences or related field
· Minimum 6 years of experience experience in conducting value chain and Market Assessments
· Extensive experience in working with, INGOs and local NGOs, UN, local authorities, beneficiaries, etc.
· Demonstrated analytical, communication and report writing skills.
· Excellent leadership and management skills
· Fluency in English, both written and verbal
· Experience of working in Somali Communities
