JOB TITLE: Finance Officer
REPORTS TO: Finance Manager
LOCATIONS: Addis Ababa

For the USAID funded project focusing on highly vulnerable children in Ethiopia, FHI 360 seeks to recruit a Finance Officer to be based in Addis Ababa.
JOB SUMMARY:
The Finance Officer is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records; preparing and entering all financial data in the accounting system. She/he also verifies all source documents for proper approval and documentation and provides support to the financial function of FHI 360 in all aspects of financial control and financial reporting.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
· Actively participate on preparation of fiscal year budgets and enter them into FHI 360’s accounting software systems.
· Review of payments to ensure adequacy with FHI 360 Ethiopia policies and procedures
· Prepare monthly prepaid amortizations and pass the necessary JEs.
· Review of workshop and training work advances settlements.
· Manage the maintenance and proper handling of documents and filing systems.
· Review travel and work advance reconciliations and update the travel advance records on regular basis.
· Prepare the payroll and all statutory contribution schedules as per FHI 360 requirements and the statutory requirements.
· Prepare expenditure analysis report for all USG project
· Perform balance sheet accounts reconciliations & bank reconciliation on a monthly basis.
· Review Report manager ID translator reports on a monthly basis and making reclassification journals.
· Advice on legal aspects, contractual and procurement procedures across project implementation.
· Support overview and maintenance of all grants, donor requirements, rules and regulations, and internal and external deadlines, including filing of grant documents
· Ensure all taxes are withholding and remitted as per Ethiopian tax law
· Preparing monthly and quarterly financial report.
· Reconcile the inventory listing to the general ledger.
· Perform GFAS close on a monthly basis by reviewing the checklist.
· Actively participate and prepare financial statement for annual audit and make ready the requested documents to auditors.
· Performs other relevant duties as assigned by supervisor
CONTRIBUTION:
· Create, update, and maintain financial spreadsheets
· Assist with monitoring budgets
· Develop budgets, including staff time allocations.
· Communicate regularly with study investigators in the field regarding budgets.
· Work with project leaders to resolve problems associated with monthly expenditures and life-of projects budgets.
EXPERTISE AND COMPLEXITY:
· Knowledge of generally accepted accounting, budgeting and fiscal control theory and practices.
· Knowledge of general office practices and administrative procedures or the ability to comprehend them.
· Budget monitoring and general ledger skills.
· Relevant software skills to include automated accounting software, database spreadsheets and Management Information Systems.
· Report to supervisor on variances and status on regular basis.
· Follow-up on requests in an efficient manner.
· Handle financial and quantitative information with accuracy and precision; resourceful in gathering, verifying and analyzing financial data.
· Education/Experience:
· BS/BA in Business Administration, Finance or Accounting or related field, and 3 - 5 years’ relevant experience in a business setting;
· or MS/MA and 1 – 3 years’ relevant experience in a business setting.
· Capable of performing responsibilities of a Financial Officer
· Frequently able to interact with others and resolve problem situations with tact.
