Background
HelpAge International (www.helpage.org) is the secretariat to the HelpAge Global Network, which brings together a wide range of organisations and individuals working together to ensure that older people lead dignified, active, healthy and secure lives. HelpAge International’s secretariat is based in London, UK and works with the Global supporting members namely: Age International, HelpAge Germany and HelpAge USA.
HelpAge has been operating in Ethiopia since 1992 on thematic sectors including social protection, health and wellbeing, emergency response and capacity building of partners.
HelpAge is responding to the needs in drought affected areas in Oromiya, with special focus on older people and PwDs. The interventions include cash/food voucher, targeted supplementary feeding, inclusive WaSH , livelihoods and recovery support. HelpAge is also responding to the needs of south Sudanese refugees’ with special focus on specific needs of older people and PWDs in Gambella region. The integrated refugee response intervention includes Health, Nutrition, Livelihoods, and capacity building of humanitarian actors to ensure inclusion of older people and their specific needs in the overall refugee response and essential service delivery interventions.
HelpAge is looking for a motivated candidate for the below vacant positions to support the successful delivery of the programs in various locations & involves frequent travel to the field.
CONTRACT LENGTH: Six month (with possibility of extension)
RESPONSIBLE TO: Humanitarian Programme Manager
RESPONSIBLE FOR: Supporting the oversight and management of HelpAge’s Emergency and recovery programmes
KEY RELATIONSHIPS:
Internal: Operations Manager- Addis; Emergency Programme Coordinators/Officers in the field; Communications Officer and Country Director
External: Various humanitarian actors in drought affected areas and refugee camps, cluster and other coordination mechanisms
Overall Purpose of the Job
The incumbent provides a hands-on support in the planning, implementation, monitoring, follow up and evaluation of ongoing emergency projects in the field locations. Collect and analyse monthly progress reports to support management decision making. Support in rapid assessments and design of new programs. Assist in the representation of HelpAge in cluster and other coordination mechanisms pertinent to the emergency and DRR programmes.
