JOB SUMMARY
The post is an emergency health position where the incumbent expect to provide technical and operational support in regard to AWD responses in Tigray Region. The position holder is also expected to provide a consistent and high quality technical support in relation to AWD cases management, responses and will assist, PHEM/, strengthen the surveillance system and oversee quality of AWD case management. The position holder is responsible for closely working with the RHB, ZHO, WHO and stakeholders in regard to strengthening surveillance and AWD responses.
KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:
Technical
Conduct patient consultations and examinations, prescribe the required treatment according to FMOH protocols.
Deciding patients discharge and transfer to other treatment unit.
Support follow up of cases admitted
Facilitate training of staff under his/her supervision in their work with special focus in following all appropriate protocols and procedures and ensuring team work
Ensure documentation of patient records and confidentiality of patient records,
Provide technical support to epidemiological outbreak investigation.
Ensure quality of clinical procedures in regard to patient’s cases management.
Provide technical leadership for assessments, ensuring assessment findings are documented and analyzed, and that all assessments include a specific analysis of children's needs
Responsible for the training of health worker’s cases management and surveillance.
Ensure patients records and clinic registers/line lists are completed according to FMOH requirements.
Ensure use of established reporting formats for data collection, analysis and report.
Work with logistics to ensure medicines and medical supplies management.
Oversee and ensure that the referral system is functioning.
Represent at relevant coordination meetings, and bilateral meetings with local health authorities and partners.
Responsible for weekly and monthly program activities report
Partnership and representation
Represent SCI in PHEM and other coordination meetings organized at regional level.
Closely work with regional, Zonal and Woreda health authorities and partners.
M&E
Provide regular progress and field visit reports
Develop, implement and evaluate quality assurance measures and ensure appropriate follow up.
Provides regular reports of drug and medical stocks supplied to beneficiaries.
Capacity Building:
Facilitate training of HWs and HEWs on case management and surveillance.
Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor
Essential
Medical Doctor
Minimum of two years working experience out of which two-years’ experience in clinical management, outbreak response and PHEM.
Experience on outbreak response
Proficiency in spoken and written Amharic, English and Local language.
Good technical knowledge of policy and practice in the field of AWD cases management and treatment procedures as well as other cross cutting issues
Computer literate in word processing and excel packages and soft wares like Auto cad, water cad
Desirable
Ability and willingness to frequently travel to villages and willingness to reside in rural areas
Training on cases management and surveillance.
Willingness to work additional hours in order to meet tight deadlines
Willingness and capacity to be flexible and accommodating when faced with difficult and frustrating working conditions like long distance walking to distribution sites
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Experience in closely working with regional and Woreda Offices
Previous experience working for NGOs an asset
