Potential Start Date: Nov 15, 2017(TBD)
Government of Ethiopia (GoE) has set an ambitious goal of reaching lower middle-income status by 2025, by transforming into an industrial economy and creating millions of jobs. In order to achieve this target, GoE developed a 5-year Growth and Transformation Plan (GTP), a comprehensive development strategy which is currently at its second round of implementation.
For effective delivery of the 5-year plan targets, the Government has placed a performance monitoring and support function at the Center of Government and relevant implementing institutions. This function has a responsibility to monitor execution of the plan and intervening to remove bottlenecks.
Since September 2015, Tony Blair Institute (TBI) has been supporting the GoE to strengthen its delivery apparatus at the center and line institutions through capacity building and system overhaul initiatives. We now intend to follow up and deepen this work by hiring a full-time Governance Associate.
Overall objective
The Governance Associate will be an integral member of the Ethiopia project team in TBI with the responsibility for providing capacity building support and advice to the Government of Ethiopia. The post-holder will work with senior GoE officials and experts, in close collaboration with the respective TBI - Workstream lead.
