In collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and other health sector partners, IHI has designed a fast-moving large-scale quality improvement (QI) initiative with the aim of accelerating the Ministry’s efforts to improve maternal and neonatal health (MNH) outcomes in Ethiopia. This initiative is funded by the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation and Margaret A. Cargill Philanthropies, and has three core components:
The Maternal Newborn Health and Community Engagement Advisor (MNH/CE Advisor) will support all elements of IHI’s project within Ethiopia, working closely with the Country Director, Senior QI Technical Advisor, Senior M&E Officer and Senior Project Officers. The position holder will lead the design and implementation of community engagement strategies, provide technical assistance in the technical implementation and scale-up of maternal and newborn health learning collaboratives, and support the dissemination of project results through writing of articles and communications for various audiences and publications. The role will be based in Addis Ababa with up to 50% of time spent traveling to regional capitals and learning collaborative sites. This is a full-time, salaried, 12-month grant-funded position with possible extension. The specific responsibilities for the position are as follows.
