Nuru International Ethiopia is a US-based international NGO working to end extreme poverty in remote rural communities in Ethiopia. Nuru is currently implementing integrated development project in Gamo Gofa Zone, SNNPR. Areas of intervention include Agriculture, Rural Livelihoods Diversification, Healthcare and Education. All four thematic areas work through local Grain Marketing Cooperatives. Currently, Nuru Ethiopia employs approximately 80+ staff at its headquarters in Arba Minch, and project offices in Boreda and Kucha Woredas

Position Description
The Development Agronomist will be in charge of researching, writing, coordinating, and training on Nuru’s row crop agriculture activities and farmer trainings. The agronomist provides leadership in smallholder agriculture best practices to build on-farm and household resilience. The agronomist will report directly to the Impact Programs Director and Rural Livelihoods Program Manager. The agronomist must have experience developing and writing curriculum that can be used in Training of Trainers activities and interpreted directly by smallholder farmers. The position will also participate in developing strategy, creating systems, and improving program management standards for the Rural Livelihoods and Cooperatives Programs with the ultimate aim of increasing efficiency and achieving Nuru’s mission to end extreme poverty in remote rural areas of Ethiopia.
Main duties and responsibilities:
Leadership, Personnel Management & Team Building
Collaborate closely with the Nuru Ethiopia Leadership team to align all technical trainings with Nuru’s training standards and frameworks.
Exemplify the servant leadership philosophy of Nuru Ethiopia and work with other managers and field officers to build company culture around a service and farmer-first mentality.
Collaborate closely with the Nuru Ethiopia Monitoring and Evaluation team to develop processes and system to measure the impact and effectiveness of agronomic trainings and on-farm impact under the Rural Livelihoods Program.
Support the Impact Programs Director and Rural Livelihoods Program Manager within Nuru Ethiopia in their effort to build market linkages for Cooperatives and farmers for agricultural products
Utilize organizational systems such as Google Calendar, Google Drive, reporting templates, etc. to maintain efficiency of systems.
Ability to work with a team and listen closely to the input from others working in the field with farmers.
Spend a significant amount of time in the field with cooperatives and the farmers they support.
