ABOUT THE ROLE
GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a competent, highly motivated and experienced Assistant Safety and Security and this is an exciting opportunity to be part of a dynamic team. You will be joining the organisation at a moving time of growth. The Assistant Safety and Security will be responsible ensuring the security of GOAL Ethiopia staff, offices and Guest Houses including property and vehicle safety and movement policies. S/he also responsible for maintaining and providing updated and correct information relating to GOAL Ethiopia staff and operations is collated and to develop and enforce security guidelines within GOAL Ethiopia.
ABOUT YOU
You'll be an experienced Safety and Security who is capable of overall responsibility for the internal Security / Safety guidelines and procedures of GOAL Ethiopia. Collaborates with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g co-workers, users, state and/or federal agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information and ensuring project success, Gather safety and security related information, compile and report to safety and security officer.
· Take overall responsibility for the internal Security / Safety guidelines and procedures of GOAL Ethiopia.
· Collaborates with a variety of internal and external parties (e.g co-workers, users, state and/or federal agencies, etc.) for the purpose of providing and/or receiving information and ensuring project success
· Gather safety and security related information, compile and report to senior security officer and store the data to be retrieved when needed
· Ensure GOAL Internal Policies and Procedures are in place and strictly adhered to.
· Assist Security and Safety Officer in Developing Security procedures to minimise the risk of harm to GOAL Ethiopia National and International staff members and Property.
· Liaise with all GOAL Ethiopia Program / Project site Managers in relation to Security issues.
· Represent Safety and Security Officer whenever to ensure daily contact is made with other sources relating to Security Issues within Ethiopia i.e. N.G.O's, UN, Media and compile a daily Security brief.
· Brief all relevant GOAL Ethiopia personnel on security issues before field travel.
· Ensure Communications structures within GOAL Ethiopia are adequate and effective for Security purposes.
· Serves as a technical resource to the organization and district staff for the purpose of providing information and/or advice regarding security issues.
· Ensure all GOAL Ethiopia staff operating Communications equipment are fully conversant with the equipment use and strictly adhere to Radio transmission Protocol and Procedures.
· Update all information to Safety and Security Officer on issues relating to GOAL Ethiopia Internal Security.
· Assist Safety and Security Officer in Reviewing the Security measures currently in place at all GOAL Ethiopia premises and compile a report inclusive of recommendations as a measure against possible theft and property damage.
· Assist Safety and Security Officer to ensure any internal security breach within GOAL Ethiopia is immediately brought to the attention of the GOAL Ethiopia Country Director or Senior Manager. A full investigation of any reported internal security breach must be completed thoroughly and documented.
· Liaise with the GOAL Ethiopia Logistics Department to ensure adequate measures are in place to prevent the misuse or possible theft or damage to GOAL Ethiopia property.
· Liaise with the GOAL Ethiopia Transport Supervisor on security related issues related to vehicles and travel.
· Acting as Safety and Security officer in the absence of safety & security officer
· Perform any additional duties instructed by immediate supervisor.
Requirements (educational, experience, language, etc.)
· Minimum Diploma in computer science, GIS, statistics or related fields with a minimum of 4years related experience
· Experience liaising with government bodies, UN agencies and other NGOs.

· Capacity to complete thorough security related investigations and finalise reports.

· Accountability & responsiveness within areas of responsibilities,
· Capable of working with an international country team.
· Ability and willingness to travel to locations outside Addis Ababa and live in sometimes-basic conditions.
· Very Good computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Word Excel and Database.
· Very good skill in graphing software and writing brief report in different format.
Desirable qualities, Skills and Competences: (list of qualities that are considered desirable for the specific post):
· Prior experience in NGO, UN Agencies in related field, Government office.

Remuneration & Benefits:
Salary Birr - 10,707.00/month
Transportation Allowance - 10% of monthly salary.
Taxi fare Allowance - 300 birr per month.
Medical Allowance - Birr 6500/annum (will be added in your monthly salary)
Pension - as per the government pension scheme (11% from the employer and 7% from the
employee).
