RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
Working under the day-to-day supervision of the Addis Ababa-based Head of Program, the Emergency Coordinator will be responsible for providing technical leadership and supervision to the development of DRC’s emergency response in the Somali region. Specifically, she or he will oversee the strategy, design and approach to implementation of all emergency-related activities in the Somali region, ensuring they are well-informed and responsive, strictly adhere to best practices, and are cohesive across the areas of implementation.
The Emergency Coordinator may be required to directly supervisor a small team of emergency response staff and will regularly collaborate with other program staff. Furthermore, she or he will be required to provide regular support and guidance to project cycle management and new proposal development, and will work collaboratively with the Head of Program, Protection Coordinator, WASH Coordinator, Livelihoods Coordinator and relevant Area Managers to monitor the overall operating context in the area.
