When not engaged in emergency response, the Flying Nursing Team Supervisor will be assigned to any of the regular duty stations of MSF-Spain in Ethiopia (Addis Abeba, Gambella, Dolo Ado) and engaged in support of technical logistics activities.
Main duties of the Flying Nursing Team Supervisor will be:
Supervise and monitor all nursing and paramedical activities assigned under his/her responsibility according to MSF policies and guidelines.
Support plan and supervise implementation of all nursing aspects of emergency response activities, including management of the paramedical team, in different field locations in the country.
Coaching and supporting nursing activities of ESS project and functional support to projects paramedical employees.
• Support planning and undertake supervision of nursing and paramedical aspects of emergency medical interventions undertaken by MSF-Spain in the country
• Supporting emergency response actions by carrying out the tasks associated to his/her speciality and taking the leadership of the nursing team in charge of the medical response.
• Carry out the functions and tasks associated to his/her speciality, i.e. perform as a nurse, midwife, labtech and anesthetist, whenever required or needed, in order to optimize the resources, contributing with his/her knowledge and experience.
• Implement all the protocols and hygiene procedures, and supervise his/her team follow the same standards, in order to warrant the quality of the care and service in his/her speciality.
• Organize and coordinate the activities of his/her team (week’s schedule, annual leave, absences, etc.), evaluate their performance and define and ensure the needs for training of staff, in order to ensure the coverage of the human resources needs and maintain high standards of quality.
• When requested, carry out and/or supervise the ( decentralized) pharmacy and medical equipment management (drugs orders, follow-up of the stock, storage conditions, inventories, follow-up of expired drugs and their destruction, drugs consumption, etc.) in his or her department, in order to satisfy the needs of material with efficiency and effectiveness.
• When requested, taking the lead on medical aspects of rapid assessments to be conducted in the country in response to different alerts: epidemics, displacement of population, malnutrition and other emergencies
• Carry-out and/or coordinate administrative, information and data collection tasks, and elaborate regular reporting, in order to have updated and reliable information about epidemiological surveillance and the day-to-day activity in the project.
