Terms of Reference for Data Clerks/Managers
1. BACKGROUND TO THE ASSIGNMENT
Save the Children has been working in Ethiopia since 1989 delivering humanitarian and development interventions supporting the regional governments on different humanitarian interventions and development initiatives. Major thematic areas of experience are livelihoods and food security, WASH, health, nutrition, education, DRR, and early warning in response to drought, flooding and other disasters.
Since May 2015, Save the Children in partnership with UNICEF has been implementing a Maternal Infant Young Child Nutrition (MIYCN) project in 11 woredas of Afar region and IYCF-KAP study including other three regions (Amhara, Afar and Tigray).
Save the Children in collaboration with UNICEF and the Government of Ethiopia planned to conduct a study on Nutrition, Food Security, WASH, Health and related issues in four Regions-Amhara, Benshangul Gumz, Afar and Tigray. For this study, Save the Children in Ethiopia is looking to hire individuals who have the experience and competencies on IYCF, KAP and Nutrition studies/researches on a consultancy base for the following position.

2. OVERALL OBJECTIVE
The main objective of this consultancy is to undertake IYCF-KAP study and document lessons learned for future programing in the four regions of Ethiopia (Amhara, Benshangul Gumz, Afar and Tigray)
3. SCOPE OF THE WORK
Under the guidance of the Regional Coordinator at the regional level, the position holder will be responsible for data entry and management at the field level. She/he will be also responsible for reviewing the household data collection tool and give feedback on the daily bases from data management and analysis point of view.
4. DELIVERABLE/OUTPUTS
· Household raw data of the four regions IYCF-KAP Survey in soft copy
5. DURATION/START AND COMPLETION DATES
The study will be conducted from 1-30 December 2017 (35 days in total) including training, travel, data cleaning, management and entry.
6. RESPONSIBILITY OF SCI
· Arrange transportation and all required logistics, equipment and survey tools for this study
· Organize training sessions
· Review delivered reports on time and give feedback for incorporation and finalization
· Settle the payment for the consultant upon submission and acceptance of the report
7. RESPONSIBILITY OF THE FREELANCER/INDIVIDUAL CONSULTANT
· Review and give feedback on the household data collection tool both during the training and data collection process
· Check the quality of data collected and give feedback to the team leader and regional coordinator
· Responsible for all data entry collected from the household on a daily base and overnight
· Responsible for assisting on data cleaning until it becomes analysable by appropriate software
· Participate on the facilitation of the implementation of the survey to be more efficient
· Give feedback on the data quality based on the problem encountered during data entry
· Responsible to finalize the task within the allocated time period (30 days)
· Any other activities which demanding his/her input on this study starting from commencement through implementation up to completion
8. SUBMISSION OF DELIVARABLES
The soft copy of the raw data should be submitted within 35 days after signing of agreement
QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
· Diploma and above with relevant fields and extensive experience in Surveys
· Demonstrated ability in manipulating epi info and/or SPSS, STATA and excel is mandatory
· Previous SPSS and epi info data analysis experience is preferable
· Those who were participated during the 2015 similar study and had good track record on their achievement, dedication and team integrity will have an advantage
· Experience of working at stressful situation
