About the project
JSI Research & Training Institute, Inc. seeks to recruit health information system professionals for its Data Use Project (DUP). The goal of the project is to improve collection and use of high-quality routine information; improve the quality, efficiency, and availability of primary health, and nutrition services at all levels of the Ethiopian health system. Summary of Responsibilities
Under the guidance of the Regional Coordinator and IT specialist from central office, the regional IT Technical Specialists: support Regional Health Bureaus (RHBs) in developing ICT policies; assist RHBs during requirement gathering for eHealth/mHealth app development by involving key stakeholders (applying Human Centered Design approaches); consult RHBs during eHealth systems’ development ensuring the implementation of the eHealth Architecture (eHA) principles; support RHBs to effectively plan the rollout of eHealth systems such as DHIS 2 and eCHIS; provide capacity building training; set up help desks; maintain liaison with RHB ICT units; contribute to the innovation lab activities; and assist the project team to better coordinate and collaborate with the RHBs.
Specific Responsibilities
The IT Technical Specialists will work in collaboration with the RHBs and assist the central and regional project teams to:
Promote ownership of eHealth systems implemented at all levels in the regions
Support the planning and rollout of DHIS 2 and other eHealth systems in the regions
Education
A Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Health Informatics, Software Engineering, or related field
Experience
Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in IT requirement gathering, system analysis, application design, deployment, end-user training, application testing, and IT system maintenance and support.
Previous experience in the health sector and in eHealth systems such as DHIS 2 is advantageous
Language Proficiency
Excellent verbal and communication skills in English, Amharic, and the official working language of the assignment location (region) of the applicant's choice.
