INCLUSIVE EDUCATION OFFICER
“SNNPR Regional Disability Mainstreaming (RDM) Partnership Program”
The Ethiopian Center for Disability and Development (ECDD) was established in December 2005, registered by the Charities and Societies Agency in November 2009 and re-registered in February 2016 as an Ethiopian Residents Charity. ECDD has 60 Association members, a 7-member Board of Directors, and 40 staff members, the majority being persons with disabilities and women. ECDD works collaboratively with other organizations to promote, facilitate, and build organizational capacity for “disability inclusive development” in Ethiopia – the inclusion of disability issues and persons with disabilities in mainstream government service delivery and non-governmental development programs.
ECDD has launched a 5-year Partnership Program with the SNNPR Regional Government entitled “Regional Disability Mainstreaming (RDM) Program”, with support from Irish Aid Ethiopia and Light For The World International. The Objective of the RDM Program is to support the SNNPR Regional Government in the design and implementation of a comprehensive Regional Disability Mainstreaming Strategy and Planning Guideline to make government and NGO mainstream service delivery and development programs inclusive of persons with disabilities.
