With the position of legal aid lawyer you will be accountable to the Finot Legal Professionals Association project officer. The project officer will supervise your day to day activities. The applicant will work and can be assigned in any branches of the Mekelle University Legal aid Center including Abiadi, Machew, Shire, or Mekelle Branches if working with Mekelle University Legal Aid Center is necessary.
We are looking for an energetic and enthusiastic hard worker who is a team player and can work independently. Working in interdisciplinary team, good interpersonal communication, humble and someone who can easily handle beneficiaries is necessary. Acting as a vital member of a dynamic team, the candidate is expected to be flexible, reasonable, accommodating, and constructive and to actively contribute to making the working environment a happy one. We are also looking for a person with a demonstrated interest in community service and with a proven capacity to practically provide legal aid for vulnerable specifically women, persons with disability, persons held in custody, persons living with HIV/AIDS, children, elders, refugees and other vulnerable groups. Willingness to work with the registrar of the Supreme Court in providing free legal aid as a defense lawyer and working in the prison centers to provide free legal aid for persons in custody is key commitment expected from the applicant.
