Consultancy service to provide team building training for staff
1. BACKGROUND
MEDA (Mennonite Economic Development Associates) is an organization dedicated to creating business solutions to poverty. MEDA is committed to promoting gender equality and encouraging gender sensitivity in all its intervention as in a policy level. MEDA has 36 professional staff contributing towards reaching out EMERTA project objectives.
MEDA strives to create work environment which recognizes the dignity and worth of each staff member, and creates a climate of mutual respect and understanding. Feeling worthwhile, worthy, part of a team & having a sense of achievement within the working environment are essential elements to happiness. These feelings can motivate a workforce & ensure they are at their most productive, & in turn, this attitude will motivate their colleagues. For this a team building exercises is known as a great way of improving communication, morale, motivation, productivity, helping employees to get to know each other better, and learning about one’s strengths and weaknesses.
Purpose of the Teambuilding Sessions/ Training
The objective of team building sessions/training is to facilitate learning in a safe and comfortable atmosphere where discussion and awareness can take place, skills are built, practices and attitudes change. People tend to have a larger imagination when they are around people with whom they are comfortable. This should foster a more successful and creative workplace.
Specifically, the training session is expected to include the following:
§ To perform various activities that are both fun and challenging and develop strong interpersonal relationships which help to bond the team closer together.
§ To build teamwork skills that can help improve employee performance and productivity at the office.
§ Foster awareness of the team spirit and to reinforce commitment to the team's shared goals and objectives.
2. Expected Results of the Training
The trainer/facilitator is expected to engage MEDA staff in the team building activities which enhance their communication skill, solve problem/make decision, increase their adoptability, and enhance their trust building ability. At the end of the team building training, it is expected that staff will acquire the following: -
§ Learn how to work together and have knowledge on how to recognize/understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses.
§ Break down barriers in communication and better utilize verbal and non-verbal forms of communication.
§ To reinforce the value of having fun in the workplace.
§ Learn about each other and build respect and trust for each other in a non-threatening and fun environment.
§ To participate in team building exercises comfortably and to help develop confidence in self and others.
§ To emphasize how taking responsibility and providing responsibility are both vital contributors to team performance.
§ To identify barriers to positive morale and highlight strategies to reinforce positivity in day-to-day work.
3. Scope of Work
The training facilitator is expected to achieve the following activities:
§ Prepare team building sessions which are appropriate to MEDA’s vision and values culture and working environment.
§ Share plan and sample of training materials for the training 5 days before event to incorporate feedback in a timely way.
§ Actively engage staff on teambuilding sessions.
§ Use blended facilitation methods that will engage adult learners
§ Conduct pre-and post-training assessment with participant
4. Venue, Date and number of participants
The teambuilding session will be held at Bishoftu city with about 35 MEDA staff. The activities must engage staff for 2 full days: February 8-9, 2018.
Required competencies
The consultants /facilitator must have:
§ Qualifications in one of following majors’ BA in Management or other social studies.
§ Has a 5 years’ experience of management consulting and team coaching programs,
§ Ability to work with people to develop their greatest asset through providing teambuilding trainings and facilitation programs and workshops focusing on communication, teamwork and stress management, leadership, employee performance management.
§ Has excellent communication, interpersonal and proven facilitation skills;
