BACKGROUND
BBC Media Action is the international development charity that uses the power of media and communication to help reduce poverty and support people. Its aim is to inform, connect and empower people around the world. Since 2001 BBC Media Action Ethiopia has been working to provide information about health and livelihoods to contribute to improving the living standards in the country. BBC Media Action has started implementing one year Baby WASH social and behavioural communication change programme in Bensa woreda (one of the focus districts for UNICEF’s current Baby WASH programme in SNNP Region). The Project aims to enable the exposed mothers, fathers and care givers practice at least two healthier Baby WASH behaviours; safe disposal of child faeces and washing hands and face of children being among many.
In order to achieve the stated objective; BBC Media Action will use different strategies including production and dissemination of mini-dramas, PSAs and discussion programs; providing capacity building trainings to media partner station staffs and enable more community outreach by training HEWs and woreda WASH team members on Baby WASH issues, communication skills and using IPC toolkits to be developed by the project besides establishing and running Listeners Groups (LGs) in selected kebeles of the Bensa Woreda. In line with this, BBC Media Action is seeking a Radio Drama Script Writers to develop a radio drama and PSA on WASH/ Baby WASH issues (use of improved and clear latrine, proper disposal of child faeces, avoid open defecation, wash hands and children hands with soap or ash and clean water at critical times, proper and safe food handling, follow hygienic practices during food preparation, washing children’s faces (especially eyes and noses), separate housing for family members and animals and ensure cleanness of playing area for children under 3 years).
OBJECTIVES
BBC Media Action is looking to hire competent radio drama script writers for its ongoing projects which focus on WASH/ Baby WASH issues. The script writers are expected to prepare informative, entertaining, and pertinent radio drama scripts for the BBC Media Action projects.
