GIZ promotes complex reforms and change processes.
In Ethiopia, GIZ has been working for more than 40 years in bilateral cooperation on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ) and on the commission of the Ethiopian government and international donors. GIZ Ethiopia is looking to recruit an economist skilled in value chain analysis and follow up (focus on coffee) for the Biodiversity and Forest programme and its co-financing activities as specified below.

Summary of Duties and Responsibilities
The incumbent of this post has the main responsibility for the:
Communication between the Programme and the partners in Chebera Churchura;
Support the partners in general park management and forestry tasks;
Synergy between the different activities of the programme;
Technical monitoring of the programs’ field activities
In this framework, the employee has the following duties:-
The Tasks:-
Communication between the Program and the partners on the Chebera Churchura
To do the utmost to have good, transparent, open and frequent communication with the partner (management, experts, scouts) of Chebera Churchura
To be aware of what is being done at the international level in relation to the management of tropical forests and parks (and especially at the level of the Horn of Africa)
To make the link between national level strategies and their implementation in the field and particularly in Chebera Churchura;
To follow the activities carried out by the MoEFCC, and Regional authorities having an impact on Chebera Churchura;
Support the partners in general park management and forestry tasks
To be available for all kind of planning of field activities in the Program’s Chebera Churchura;
To make sure that all stakeholders in Chebera Churchura are linked in strategic events of the program;
To play a role of “communication bridge” between all stakeholders on all levels in regard to Chebera Churchura:
Actively discuss all kind of concepts and approaches within the Program and make sure, that messages to the partners in Chebera Churchura are always in line with the program.
Synergy between the different activities of the program;
To cooperate in the strategic development of the program components with regard to Chebera Churchura;
To ensure the involvement of the partner staff in all kind of BFP component plan and implementation discussions in Chebera Churchura;
Technical monitoring of the program field activities
To coordinate all kind of activities between HQ and the site Chebara Churchura concerning all program components;
To be involved in all planning of missions to Chebera Churchura and communicate with the beneficiaries of people travelling;
Other responsibilities:-
Support the administration of the program and ensure that the rules and regulations of GIZ are always respected mainly also in Chebera Churchura
Take an active part in all the meetings, workshops etc. of the program, mainly concerning Chebera Churchura
Be actively involved in the undertakings of the programme team and ensure that the common decisions are materialized in due time
Be actively involved in transversal tasks (gender, HIV AIDS, etc.)
Assume all other assigned tasks of the superior
Qualifications required
Degree in Forestry, natural resource management, wildlife management or related subject;
Minimum of 5 years professional experience in the sector of Forestry, park management, and forest landscape restoration
Have proven communication skills;
Thorough experience in application of participatory approaches;
Thorough experience in formation of community based institutions, alternative livelihoods, Climate Change, NTPFs;
Good mastering of the English language and at least two Ethiopian languages
