Deputy Programme Manager BENEFIT-CASCAPE
Background
BENEFIT-CASCAPE is one of the programmes functioning under BENEFIT (Ethiopia - Netherlands Effort for Food, Income and Trade) partnership and funded by the Dutch Government. BENEFIT stands for Bilateral Ethiopia-Netherlands Effort for Food, Income and Trade partnership while CASCAPE stands for “Capacity building for scaling up of evidence based best practices in agricultural production in Ethiopia”. The goal of the Programme is to enhance the capacity of the research and extension system to generate demand-driven best fit technologies & practices, to put in place conditions for uptake, and to deliver these technologies & practices to farmers. CASCAPE’s goal is to be achieved through four primary outcomes:
Support research and extension partners at federal and regional levels in screening, validating and scaling up of best fit agricultural practice;
Enhanced human, organizational and institutional capacities for matching, adapting, validating and scaling best fit practices; and
A conducive environment exists for the institutionalisation of evidence based system innovations.
The implementation model is through five university clusters (Hawassa, Mekelle, Bahir Dar, Jimma and Addis Ababa) that work closely with the regional bureaus of agriculture and research institutes. As the CASCAPE programme is part of the BENEFIT portfolio of programmes, close collaboration with the Portfolio Manager and the sister programmes is expected.
