Job Title: Malaria Laboratory Service Director

Overall job function:
Major responsibilities
· Provide technical and strategic support to FMOH, EPHI, RHBs, and RRL in malaria laboratory diagnosis related activities
· Provide technical support for the development/review of national diagnostic and EQA guidelines, training materials, provider support tools, and monitoring and evaluation tools to improve malaria laboratory diagnosis and quality assurance
· Provide technical support for the development/review of mentorship, supervision, laboratory audit and quality assurance tools and procedures to improve quality if testing.
· Provide technical support to the regional malaria program managers and regional malaria laboratory advisors to strengthen quality of malaria diagnosis activities
· Provide technical support for planning and implementation of regional malaria diagnosis and treatment activities
· Coordinate malaria laboratory diagnosis and quality assurance in-service and pre-service trainings
· Coordinate baseline and follow up assessment of malaria laboratory diagnosis activities
· Assist and supervise the work of regional malaria laboratory advisors and monitor the rollout of malaria laboratory diagnosis quality assurance activities
· Participate in the design and implementation of operational research activities
· Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual plans and activity reports
· Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned by supervisor
Experience, skills & minimum required qualifications:
· MSc in laboratory science or MPH with a minimum of five years of experience or minimum of BSc in laboratory sciences with a work experience of at least ten years
· Demonstrated experience in malaria laboratory diagnosis and monitoring program management and bench works.
· Demonstrated experience in development and review of guidelines, manuals, training materials, different tools, etc
· Demonstrated experience in team leadership and management
· Demonstrated experience in conducting trainings, supervisions, and mentorship
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with subordinates, associates, other department directors, managers and external stakeholders
· Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
· Computer skills (Windows, Word, Power point, Spread sheet, etc)
Travel Requirements
· Approximately 50% travel to supported regions and health facilities.
