Background
The Center for Innovative Drug Development and Therapeutic Trials for Africa (CDT-Africa) is a World Bank supported center of excellence for education and research at the College of Health Sciences, Addis Ababa University, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia. The main aim of CDT-Africa is to serve as a platform for equitable access to interventions (medicines, vaccines, diagnostics and complex interventions) and bring about sustainable development in Africa through high-quality capacity development for innovative therapeutic discovery.
CDT-Africa has planned to map medicinal products with the main aim of mapping key resources for medicinal products and other interventions within Ethiopia and the East Africa Region. Such resources include pharmaceutical companies, types of products produced, level of accreditation, internationally accredited laboratory facilities, bioequivalence units, clinical trial programs, accredited ethics boards. As a result, CDT-Africa will strengthen capacity in Africa to produce medicinal products and the needs established as baseline data for further monitoring.
Objective of the Assignment
The primary goal of the local consultancy is to undertake the medicinal products mapping and produce detail report on regional capacity for producing drugs, vaccines, diagnostics and behavioral interventions.
