TechnoServe (TNS) is a non-profit international development organization founded in 1968. Its mission is to help entrepreneurial men and women break the cycle of poverty by building businesses that create jobs, income, and economic opportunities for their families, their communities, and their Countries.
The Livelihood Improvement for Women and Youth (LIWAY) program is a multi-partner, pioneering poverty reduction program that aims to improve the incomes of 200,000 women and youth in greater Addis Ababa (Addis Ababa and surrounding areas).
As part of its LIWAY program, TechnoServe Ethiopia Country Office is inviting research firms to partner with and undertake research that informs underlying reasons how women and youth in Addis Ababa find work, determine what job matching services are available, and how these are meeting the needs of women and youth currently with the purpose of designing or availing job matching services that are more gender sensitive; that use the appropriate channel of dissemination, take less time and are less costly. For example, where do women especially young women go to look for work (e.g. online, job board, social network, labor corners), how often, how far, what times, types of jobs they look for(temporary, permanent, low or semi-skilled), how they form social networks and how these networks help or limit their opportunities of accessing jobs.
