In Ethiopia GIZ has been implementing development programmes on behalf of the German government for over 40 years jointly with our national partners. The focus of our work in the country is on vocational education, sustainable use of natural resources, land management and food security, biodiversity and forestry. Further programmes enhance the development of a sustainable textile sector and renewable energies. GIZ International Water Stewardship Programme (IWaSP) Ethiopia is looking to recruit a Programme Officer.

IWaSP programme
IWaSP is an international water security programme which combines global best practices in water stewardship with local know-how. This innovative programme enables partners to adopt a comprehensive and cost-effective approach to managing water risks for people, businesses and the environment. In Ethiopia, IWaSP is currently co-leading the development of two multi-stakeholder partnerships in Hawassa and Sebeta.
Major duties and responsibilities
The Junior Programme Officer will join a dynamic international team to support the development of the programmatic content and institutional set up of several multi-stakeholder partnerships. Major duties comprise:
· To help establish and/or nurture constructive working relationships with and amongst numerous stakeholders from the private sector, the public sector and civil society;
· To contribute to the design, planning, coordination and implementation of a series of partnership projects tackling water challenges on different dimensions (i.e. infrastructures and system, water management, water governance);
· To produce technical reports and support the team’s M&E and knowledge management efforts;
· To partake in learning, knowledge sharing, and advocacy events at regional, national, and international levels;
· To help ensure high integrity standards in partnerships;
· To support other related activities as assigned.
Profile
Required skills and abilities
· Higher degree in engineering, water and environment-related fields;
· Strong analytical skills;
· Project management skills;
· Good communications abilities;
· High degree of autonomy, initiative, efficiency, punctuality, integrity and accountability;
· Demonstrated teamwork experience;
· Very good command of oral and written English;
· Very good command of Microsoft Office;
· Readiness to upgrade skills and continuous learning.

· Demonstrated interest in water governance and catchment-based approaches;
· Presentation and facilitation skills;
· Business mindset and entrepreneurship spirit.
Required Experience
· At least 3 year experience
