Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Engineering Department direct, co-ordinate, and implement the plans and programs of the project. Is responsible and accountable for the execution of the works according to the required quality, cost and time.
Based on the approved master plan and program of the project, prepares detail construction work, material, labor and equipment schedules and implements after approval by Engineering Department. Appraises periodically the progress and effectiveness of the project operating and takes remedial actions, and where appropriate recommends improvement. Direct, organizes, coordinates, supervises and administers the project activities in accordance with the established rules, regulations and procedures of the firm.
Duties and Responsibilities
1. Consults and reviews with management project proposals to determine time frame, funding limitations, procedures for accomplishing the project, staffing requirements, and allotment of available resources to various phases of the project.
2. Develops project plans specifying goals, strategy, staffing, scheduling, and identification of risks, contingency plans and allotment of resources for each phase of the project, and arranges for recruitment or assignment of project personnel with engineering department.
3. Studies drawings, specification, contracts and bill of quantities thoroughly making himself the most knowledgeable person of the project, detects calculations designs and pricing errors and notifies same to the Engineering Department and to the Consultant so as to take appropriate action.
4. Coordinates with department head and prepares scope of work (needs analysis) based on solution needed by client.
5. Formulates and defines technical scope and objectives of project for project personnel.
6. Identifies and schedules project deliverables, milestones, and required tasks.
7. Coordinates recruitment or assignment of project personnel.
8. Assigns duties, responsibilities, and scope of authority to project personnel.
9. Directs and coordinates activities of project personnel to ensure projects progresses on schedule and within prescribed budget.
10. Establishes standards and procedures for project reporting and documentation.
11. Reviews status reports prepared by project personnel and modify schedules and plans as required.
12. Prepares project status reports and keeps management, clients, and others informed of project status and related issues.
13. Confers with project personnel to provide technical advice and resolve problems.
14. Coordinates and responds to request for changes from original specifications.
15. Monitors project test results against technical specification.
16. Develops application/solution test plan for the project.
17. Introduce and implement proper construction techniques and practices for improving productivity and quality of work.
18. Prepare change orders when applicable, notifying the Engineering Department, and obtain approval of the Client or Consultant. Investigates and compiles data/photographs that will justify the delays, claims and extra ordinary occurrences.
19. Analyses actual costs incurred for each job in comparison with budget and bid offer and take measures to improve margin.
20. Ensures preparation of monthly payment certificates in time and promptly follow up until payment is effected.
21. Responsible and accountable for the implementation of rules, regulations and procedures of the Company in all areas.
22. Ensures on the job training of all personnel to build capacity to work.
23. Provide full managerial and technical support to all staff and solve any problems encountered by them on time.
24. Maintain cordial relations with the client, consultant, employees and local populous without adversely affecting the interest of the Company. In case of any legal issue arising inform the head office immediately.
25. Familiarizes with the Labour proclamation and collective agreement and ensures that they are not violated.
26. Supervise that performance data is correctly recorded and Head Office is timely informed of the same.
27. Evaluates all immediate subordinates periodically to assess their utility and possible replacement in the interest of the work.
28. Obtains through Client’s satisfaction and acceptance testing, project substantial completion.
29. Performs any other Project related tasks in the interest of the project.
30. Perform other related tasks assigned by the Engineering Department Manager / General Manager.
31. Maintains a good relationship with clients and consultants, suppliers, subordinates and colleagues. Informs the Head Office of all legal cases to be handled.
32. Represents the firm in the project area and receives visitors and treats them as deemed necessary.
- B.Sc. Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology Management.
- 8 years & above; in Infrastructure Construction positions from which at least 4 years on the specified position
