BACKGROUND: CHAI Ethiopia carries out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. Being the largest CHAI field office worldwide, we currently employ over 160 staff working in the following 08 programs:, Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), Access to Medicine, Lab Services, Vaccines, Nutrition, Child survival, Global Health Financing and Human Resource for Health (HRH).
CHAI Ethiopia is currently implementing a program to address key drivers of child mortality with focus on improving access to live saving commodities. The program is positioned to address the challenges based on priority services delivery areas of Child health through optimization of procurement & supply chain management lifesaving health commodities and Pneumonia diagnostics & treatment medical supplies/equipment in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia with focus on pneumonia and diarrhea. As such, reducing pneumonia and diarrhea morbidity and mortality in under- 5 children in Ethiopia through sustained availability of life saving commodities will be the key focus with this CHAI program.
JOB SUMNMARY: Under the technical guidance of the Child Survival program in Clinton Health Initiative (CHAI), the position holder will be responsible for coordinating childhood Pneumonia focusing on availability and functionality of medical Oxygen supply system & diagnostics equipment including technology selection, specification, procurement, maintenance and supply chain management activities in Ethiopia which will contribute for the reduction of morbidity & mortality due to this disease through ensuring sustainable supply chain management and proper utilization.
The advisor for medical equipment and system is responsible to provide technical support in program implementation with focus on child health medical equipment through supporting and closely working with FMoH, RHBs, FMHACA & PFSA as well as facilities. The support includes but not limited to; medical oxygen & pneumonia diagnostics technology selection, specification, procurement, installation, training, maintenance and use at service delivery points. The position holder is expected to work closely with Facilities, RHB & PFSA in skill & knowledge transfer in the country in preventive & curative maintenance of this medical equipment to ensure the functionality & sustainable availability and reliable supply of the spare parts for the successful implementation of the program. Furthermore, s/he will ensure the provision of training and regular supportive supervision at selected health facilities. The incumbent will participates in the development of the work plan, ensures the achievement of specific assigned objectives. Building strong partnership and working closely with regional CSP team, FMOH, PFSA, RHB and other non-governmental partners are part of position holder’s assignment.
