BACKGROUND: CHAI Ethiopia carries out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. Being the largest CHAI field office worldwide, we currently employ over 160 staff working in the following 08 programs: The Ethiopian Hospital Management Initiative (EHMI), Maternal and Newborn Health (MNH), Access to Medicine, Lab Services, Vaccines Introduction, Nutrition, Child survival, and Global Health Financing and Human Resource for Health (HRH).
CHAI Ethiopia is implementing a program to address key drivers of child mortality with focus on improving access to live saving commodities. The program is positioned to address the challenges based on priority services delivery areas of Child health through optimization of procurement & supply chain management in collaboration with the Government of Ethiopia with focus on pneumonia and diarrhea. As such, reducing pneumonia and diarrhea morbidity and mortality in under- 5 children in Ethiopia through sustained availability of life saving commodities and proper utilization will be the key focus with this CHAI program.
JOB SUMNMARY:
Under the technical guidance of the Child Survival program in Clinton Health Initiative (CHAI), the position holder will be responsible for coordinating Pneumonia & Diarrheal disease with focus on uptake (utilization) of iCCM, ,CBNC,IMNCI commodities with main focus on Oxygen and Pulse oximeter and services scale up in Tigraye which will contribute for the reduction of morbidity & mortality due to these disease through ensuring sustainable supplies and their proper utilization.
The Regional uptake officer is responsible to provide technical support in the overall implementation of CSP in Tigray region and strengthening of regional/zonal/woreda/Health facility level child health though improved coordination of supply-demand barriers and addressing critical capacity gaps. The position holder is expected to work closely with RHB & Zonal Health Departments and facilities to ensure availability and utilization of the commodities and services that includes Oxygen/pulse oximeter supply and use. Furthermore, s/he will ensure the provision of training and regular supportive supervision of health facilities as per the schedule. The incumbent will participates in the development of the work plan, ensures the achievement of specific assigned objectives. Building strong partnership and working closely with regional CSP team, facility , Zonal, RHB and other non-governmental partners are part of position holder’s assignment through one-on-one and in working group engagements.
