Background:

Scope of Work:
Save the Children has developed age-specific facilitation guides to support the implementation of Early Childhood Care and Development/Education(ECCE) in Ethiopia in consultation with Ministry of Education. There are three such guides developed for children attend preschool education program at age 4, age 5 and age 6. The reviewer/editor to be selected for this assignment is therefore, expected to thoroughly review/ edit the guides and produce high quality and reader friendly facilitation guide. The scope of the work also includes, addition of table of contents, cover page, introductory section like introduction, objectives, purpose and and target users of the material. In the review/edition work, the individual consultancy is expected to be guided by the feedbacks presented by Ministry of Education(will be attached ) and closely works with Save the Children’s assigned program staff. The final, high standard and quality materials to be produced will be presented to Ministry of Education for final review and made ready for external validation. The guides will be the sole properties of Save the Children.
Responsibility of the Individual consultant ;
· Throughly review and edit three ECCD facilitation guides(for age 4, age 5 and age 6) for proper and standard language in Amaharic,
· Specifically, the individual consultant review and edit grammar, spelling, appropriate word selection, typographic errors(spacing, formatting, font, indentation, and other writing mechanics)
· Develop and include table of contents, cover page, introductory elements like introduction, general and specifc objective, purpose and and target users of the guides.
· Incorporate the feedbacks provided by Ministry of Education to the draft guides ,
· Closely works with assigned Save the Children program staff and be guided in accordance of the review/edition criteria set by Save the Children,
· Submit draft copies of the guides to Save the Children Education unit a week before the agreed due date,
· Submite final copies of the guides to Save the Children Education unit within the agreed due date,
The individual consultant is responsible to hire his support crew in the ways he finds fit for the quality of work we demand of him/her and Save the Children is not responsible for the cost this incurs.
Responsibilities of Save the Children
· Submit both soft copies and hard copies of the materials to be reviewd/edited to the selected individual consultant upon signing of the contract
· Assign program staff/focal point who can closely work with the selected individual consultant ,
· Provide orientation and hand over required creteria prior to the assignment,
· Double-check and collect final version of the materials in soft copies from the individual consultant ,
· Effect payments for deliverbales that are accepted and approved by Save the Children .
Expected Outputs and Deliverables:
· Throughly reviewd and and edited three ECCD facilitation guides in relevance to the assignment,
· First draft copires of the matwrials(in soft copies) within one week before the agreed due date,
· Final version of the Final version of the materials per the agreed contract within the due date.
Qualification and experience of the consultants
The local consultant and associates are expected to have at least first degree and above in language studies (preferably with major or minor in Amharic language degree) with dependable experience in reading or teaching material production, reviewing and edition works. Other merits include:
· Previous relevant experience working on related assignments with other NGOs, demonstrable excellence in the target language.
