Amref Health Africa would like to recruit Social behavioral and Health communication specialist (WASH) based in Dera Woreda, Amahara Regional State and will report to Project Manager.
Summary of job
The Social behavioural and Health communication specialist will work in close collaboration with the project manager, the project staffs, the WASH program manager & the communications manager. The purpose of the job is to develop promotional tools and conduct a market/sales promotion to establish a sustainable market link for the WASH business groups; to establish a sustainable School Hygiene promotion system to ensure the sustainability of Dera WASH results in the schools; support the WASHCos to sustainably manage and administer the community water schemes, assess the OD and ODF status & support towards a sustainable ODF community and provide trainings on the post ODF module. Provide hands-on training on the use of Pico promotion for Health Extension workers, Health workers and school WASH members. S/he will document and record all activities implemented during the consultancy period; and also consult project manager and program manager on how to design and develop mechanism for sustaining positive WASH behaviours with focus to CLTSH, WASH business models & School WASH

Specific Roles and Responsibilities
Social behavioural and WASH communication specialist will be responsible for the following essential duties:
o The purpose of the job is to develop promotional tools and
o Conduct situation assessment of CLTS; WASH business models & WASCos
o Conduct a market/sales promotion for the WASH business groups;
o Establish a sustainable School WASH promotion system for the schools included under Dera WASH project
o Provide training on post ODF module; and the use of Pico promotion for attaining ODF & post ODF process
o Identify the key drivers of positive change in the WASH business models, WASHCo sustainability, School WASH and ODF
o Work and consult Amref Health Africa’s WASH project manager& the project staffs strategically on sustainability of project activities, sale promotion of WASH business intervention to strengthen sustainable use and positive hygiene behavioural and income generation for the business groups
o Develop and implement handover strategy for the WASH behavioural component Support and develop SBCC capacity strengthening strategy for partners and implement capacity strengthening activities.
o Develop lesson learned, best experiences in video documentary and hard copies and shared to programs and partners as well

o Master’s degree in health education/ communications & WASH related field.
o At least 6 years of experience in WASH, public Health & communication.
o Knowledge and experience in health education, social marketing and sales promotion, use of Pico projectors and behavioural change communication is required.
o Experience in developing and implementing a behavioural change communication strategy, focusing on creating demand for community and school-based promotions.
o Experience in working for WASH projects that encompass a strong behaviour change communication component.
o Experience in developing behavioural change communication tools and materials.
o Experience in training and technical assistance on Pico-projector training for Health extension workers and school WASH
o Excellent oral and written communication skills in English and Amharic
o Strong awareness and experience on sale promotion of WASH business intervention models to generate income and give sustainable service to the public.
o Well organized, and able to respond quickly to requests while maintaining a high quality of output.
o Demonstrated ability to take initiative and work proactively and independently, maintain a flexible work manner and schedule.
