Ethiopian Medical Association (EMA) is a registered professional association, which works in the medical sector in Ethiopia. One of its active roles is to promote the dissemination of medical knowledge through its internationally accredited journal, the Ethiopia Medical Journal (EMJ). EMJ is the oldest medical journal in Ethiopia and one of the oldest in Africa. The journal is indexed in several international indexing databases. The EMJ is publishing four issues and a variable number of special issues per year, both online and in hard copies. The EMA and the EMA Board of Editors are currently working to enhance the quality of the Journal and its international stature, The Association is, therefore, recruiting a highly motivated, dedicated and competent staff that will support the Association in achieving its goals. The post will be on a renewable contractual basis.
Job Summary
The post holder is responsible for managing the whole process from submission to publication and dissemination of the Journal. The successful applicant will communicate with authors, reviewers and editors and serve, in close consultation f with the Board, as the ‘face’ and ‘voice’ of EMJ. S/he keeps board minutes; prepares and provides reports as necessary; engages in income generating activities and involves in annual conference activities. The post holder will also be responsible for making sure that the issues are released at the specified time and for making sure that the issues are distributed to members of EMA and subscribers in a timely fashion.
