ORGANIZATIONAL DESCRIPTION:

SCOPE OF WORK/ JOB PURPOSE:
Under the direct supervision of Camp Manager and Program Manager, the CWI Prevention Officer will supervise the prevention activities in the Assosa refugee camp. The CWI Prevention Officer will train and supervise refugee community workers and community activist to respond GBV issues in the camp. This includes providing ongoing training and mentorship for community workers, community activist, develop a quarterly work plan and utilizing monitoring and evaluation systems to ensure high quality services. The CWI prevention Officer will encourage smooth communication, collaboration and coordination among partners from the protection, health, legal, and psychosocial sectors committed to reducing the incidence of violence against women. Conduct workshops, trainings and disseminating information to all relevant stakeholders and conducting prevention-related trainings for service providers to promote quality services.
DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS:
1. Direct support the CWI prevention activities, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the program in the refugee camp to ensure that the CWI prevention program is implemented according to work plan and spending plan and that the project objectives and committed-indicators are met.
2. Develop and maintain effective working relationships with all relevant stakeholders including government and other agencies, other implementing partners, community leaders, organizations and informal structures, and represent the program in all stakeholder meetings.
3. Facilitate trainings and workshops on GBV related issues for health care providers, CWI Staff, implementing partners, education providers, local authorities, women’s groups, refugee community leaders, religious leaders, youth groups, NGO workers and any other identified groups in support with the CWI Manager and CWI Senior Officer.
4. Develop a quarterly work plan, monthly work plan and monitoring plan in advance and provide for community workers and/or community activists in the camp for awareness raising activities; and provide training when needed.
5. Identify community workers and/or community activist focal point in the camp, provide regular communication check in, specific team leader tasks and share the communication/task plan with the Response Officer, CWI Manager and Senior Officer.
8. In support from The CWI Senior Officer, ensure the success of SASA! implementation, including update training materials, adaptation of materials to include SASA!, recruiting and supervising community activists, implementing monitoring and evaluation plans, implementing four SASA! strategies, and ensuring appropriate GBV messages are given to the refugee communities.
9. Assist in and /capacity building to community worker to be able to support GBV safety audit activity as needed.
10. Monitor prevention supply and logistical needs, raise procurement request of prevention activity on the quarterly basis in advance and ensure adherence to all relevant IRC logistic policies.
12. Support Response Officer participation in coordination meeting with UNHCR, ARRA, police, legal justice, community leaders
13. Collect prevention qualitative and quantitative data, analyze, monitor and evaluate the result based prevention activities and share project data and information for problem analysis, planning and evaluation with the CWI Senior Officer and Manager.
Requirements
EDUCATION:
· Diploma with 6 years of experience/ First degree with 4 years of experience in Social Work, Sociology, Public Health, Women’s Studies, or any other Social science related field.
EXPERIENCE:
· Six and four years work experience for Diploma and first degree holders in the field of studies stated above
· At least two years’ experience in GBV (Gender Based Violence), and Gender related humanitarian and development programming, work and field experience is a plus.
SKILLS REQURED
· Clear understanding of gender, power abuse, and issues surrounding violence against women.
· Able to maintain GBV and protection principle at all times.
· Experience in participatory techniques and community mobilization include facilitate the training.
· Ability to lead, train, supervise, facilitate and motivate other CWI field workers in their respective tasks in a professional, respectful and supportive manner.
· Positive and professional attitude, able to organize, maintain composure and prioritize work under pressure, work over-time when needed and able to coordinate multiple tasks and maintain attention to detail.
· Ability to work as a member of a team essential.
· Fluency in English, with additional Local Languages is preferable.
· Possess interest and commitment to human rights and gender equality.
· Must be computer literate, including Microsoft word, excel, outlook and power-point
