The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training. The employee will work within the TBGENAfrica research team at the Armauer Hansen Research Institute. This project is funded by the Wellcome Trust through the African Academy of Sciences and coordinates collaborative research on susceptibility to tuberculosis in three countries in North-Eastern Africa and Cameroun. The employee will participate in the establishment and strengthening of a regional Bioinformatics Research and Training Centre at AHRI that will build genomics capacity in all partner countries. AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of project coordinator . The role of the project coordinator will be Oversee day-to-day management and implementation of assigned project activities in close collaboration with teams’ members and collaborating institutions. · Facilitate the implementation of project deliverable and activities in all members of the consortium and participate in the monitoring of progress · Provide support to all participating countries and ensure that they are fully and actively engaged. · The candidate will ensure administrative support is provided for services (procurement and financial management). · Support the development of training and research capacity building at AHRI · Ensure accurate and complete technical and financial reports are submitted on schedule. · Present the activities, results and outcomes during project meetings · Carry out any other duties as may be assigned by the principal investigator (PI) to meet the objectives of the project |
MBA-project management, business administration or related field
At least 8 or BA degree with 10 years professional work experience
Experience in project management
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.
Demonstrated ability to write, publish, and disseminate technical reports, success stories, and promotional materials; and
Ability to work in a multi-disciplinary and multi-institutional environment
Project coordination experience in health research is preferable
