Project Description: The Accounting & Administrative Assistant will provide accounting support to the Feed the Future Growth through Nutrition Activity under the Land O'Lakes led economic strengthening and livelihoods component. S/he will be responsible for preparing finance and accounting documentation in coordination with the Land O'Lakes in Addis Ababa. The position will be based from the Land O’Lakes Country Office with frequent travel to the GTN office. S/he will also be responsible for HR and administrative functions as assigned. This support will be conducted in accordance with Land O'Lakes and donor regulations.
Position Summary and Primary Responsibilities: The Accounting & Administrative Assistant is junior to mid-level professional position requiring an accounting degree with 4 or more years’ experience supporting day-to-day accounting, financial, grant and administrative aspects of a multifaceted development program. He or she will have the proven ability to work as a team player.
Primary Responsibilities:
Oversee a finance, grants and administrative team of up to 6 people across two countries to ensure:
Prepare monthly payroll for all GTN staff.
Process salary payments for all project staff on a monthly basis.
Submit salary statutory deductions to the relevant government authorities on a monthly basis.
Submit pension deductions to the relevant institution.
Prepare month end financial reports and send to Land O'Lakes HQ office in Minnesota for processing.
File any returns required by government.
Ensure Land O'Lakes is fully compliant with all the relevant government authorities.
Prepare and submit monthly financial funds request for review to the regional office.
Assist in the management and reconciliation of LOL bank accounts
Maintain the office petty cash and other related records.
In coordination with Country Office, assist with the preparation of monthly budgets and projections as well as monthly financial statements for various projects according to LOL and donor requirements.
Prepare payments, vouchers, and ensuring that all supporting documents are included in accordance with Land O’Lakes and donor policies and procedures.
Check the completeness of and ensure all policies and procedures are in place for authorizations for travel and procurement.
Work with Project Manager and Ops in HQ on HR and administrative tasks.
Coordinate with Team Leader and Country Office and HQ Accountant in the provision of assistance to the field /office staff on accounting and timesheet matters.
Ensure that all creditors and debtors accounts are reconciled and accruals schedules prepared on a monthly basis.
Supervise all administrative components of the main program office
Utilize established Sharepoint system (DevLink) to store key documents and share key project and country related information with other staff.
Provide honest, timely feedback to Management on how to improve operations.
Other duties assigned.

Position reports to GTN Senior Project Manager
Job Requirement
Degree in finance, accounting, or related field of study
Four years or more relevant experience
Fluency in English and excellent writing skills required.
Prior experience in administering staff benefits, pension funds, payroll, etc.
Ability to coordinate, collaborate, and negotiate with clients, host government officials, NGOs, sub-grantees in implementing project activities.
Strong computer skills
Strong communication skills both verbal and written in English.
Ability to occasionally travel to the filed to support activities
