The Armauer Hansen Research Institute (AHRI) was founded in 1970 through the initiative of the Norwegian and Swedish Save the Children organizations seconded by the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia. The Institute got its name from the Norwegian physician, Gerhard Henrik Armauer Hansen, who first described the leprosy bacillus (Mycobacterium leprae). AHRI is a biomedical research institute that works in developing tools for prevention, control and treatment of mycobacterium and other diseases of public healthy importance through applied and basic biomedical research and training.
AHRI would like to hire qualified candidate in the position of Researcher II.
Duties and Responsibilities
· Leading the knowledge management Directorate
· Strengthening the different units (Data management and Biostatistics, ICT, Research Dissemination and Clinical epidemiology) and provide professional guidance
· Providing updated scientific information to the research staff
· Providing scientific support, reviewing manuscripts and facilitating the publication of completed research projects
· Documenting research evidences and other related institutional information for utilization in publications, institutional planning and evaluation
· Preparing forums for research findings dissemination, preparing policy briefs, research digest, scientific and technical institutional reports and devising other research results dissemination mechanisms
· Facilitating the establishment of the Research-Industry link in collaboration with the strategic relationship unit.
Education, Experience & Publication Point:
- MSc in Biostatistics/Health informatics/Epidemiology/Medical Sciences with 8years experience and with 9 publication points OR
- PhD in Biostatistics/Health informatics/Epidemiology/Medical Sciences with 6 years experience and with 8 publication points
Competencies:
- Excellent proficiency in English (writing and speaking)
- Excellent Research and Communication Skills
- Excellent experience in scientific data analysis, interpretation and presentation
- Experience in writing policy briefs, scientific reports and in using other research output dissemination mechanisms
- Excellent ICT skill
- Good general work habits and people skills
- Committed to the values of integrity, accountability, transparency, and scientific rigor
- Practical experience in medical research
- Basic understanding in health research ethics and in national and international laws related to
- Health research
