Catalytic Sustainable Agribusiness Investments (CSAI) is a USAID-funded initiative that aims to promote climate-smart agricultural development in East Africa that aligns with the Feed the Future (FtF) objectives of inclusive and sustainable agricultural-led economic growth and strengthened resilience among people and systems. With three specific objectives of: a) Creating an enabling environment for investment in climate smart agriculture; b) Incubating innovative, climate smart and inclusive agriculture businesses that lend themselves to private investment; and c) Accelerating deployment of private capital into scalable climate smart agriculture businesses, the CSAI Activity utilizes a strategy that relies on engagement with and assistance to the private sector.
1. BACKGROUND
Since January 2018 SNV Ethiopia through its CSAI project start working with Menagesha Biotech Ind PLC with the objective of making their product(bio-fertilizer) accessible to the smallholder farmers and contribute for the development of legume value chain in the country.
(MBI) is a local privately owned enterprise established in 2012 with the aim of producing and distributing bio-fertilizers for major legume crops of the country to be expanded to others crops in the coming years and with a vision of becoming the leading bio fertilizers producing industry in the region, and reaching all legume producing farmers in the country with inoculants.
To do so the company needs to build its capacity to produce and supply to reach as much as possible large number of small holding farmers. . The company plans to develop clear business strategy and attract enough capital investment to finance its plans. SNV CSAI project planned to assist the company in the development of this bankable business plan to achieve the aforementioned objective.
2. OBJECTIVE OF THE ASSIGNMENT
The primary objective of the assignment is to produce bankable business plan that can clearly point out or project the growth of company by producing and distributing bio fertilizer for the next five year.
3. SCOPE OF THE WORK
The consultant will produce a high quality bankable business plan that can serve both in the domestic and international level.
Based on the objectives the consultant(s) will be required to provide an analysis of the present scenario and develop a detailed business, costing and marketing plan that is expected to provide overall direction to the company operations making it sustainable, efficient and growth oriented in the long run. The plan should be time bound and show clear achievable targets within defined timelines.
