Amref Health Africa is an African-led international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors of East Africa to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa envision to bringing lasting health change for Africain more than 30 countries across the continent. With a focus on women and children, the organization strives to overcome the most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, water and sanitation and health systems strengthening. Amref Health Africa in Ethiopia has been working in Ethiopia since 2002 in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health implementing a range of projects in maternal, neonatal and child health, reproductive health, health systems strengthening, health workforce development, water and sanitation, HIV/AIDS and non-communicable diseases across the country, supported by a wide range of multilateral and bilateral donors, corporates and foundations.
Amref Health Africa would like to recruit a WASH business adviser for its “MWEB project. The job holders will be based in Addis Ababa and reports to the Program Manager.
Key duties and responsibilities
- Develop tools in consultation with assigned staff
- Develop/installation of software for the mission
- Develop appropriate work schedule with detailed activities, time frame and deliverables
- Provide training on business data collection and business related concepts for assigned Amref Ethiopia staff, including use of software and tools.
- Provide coaching and technical assistance on business data collection for assigned Amref Ethiopia staff
- Provide close follow-up and quality assurance on collected business data of 10 WASH kiosks/SMEs (e.g. reviewing ,clearing /checking data’s, facilitating data entering ,analyzing ,interpreting and reporting)Develop a WASH kiosk data file including summary data and advise on a sustainable business model(s).
- Develop a business model tool
- Provide Technical support for production of IEC materials on WASH business promotion.
- Lead a workshop to develop a sustainable WASH kiosk business model
- Train/coach assigned Amref Ethiopia staff on business advisory and coaching, entrepreneurship development and on supporting continuous data collection by SMEs,
Qualification required business Adviser
· Master’s degree in Economic, Business management & WASH related fields
· At least 6 years of experience in business management preferably engaged in WASH and business, Sanitation marketing and promotion.
· General understanding of the WASH sector in Ethiopia
· Knowledge & experience on entrepreneurship development with regard to the SME sector
· Proven experience on field research, preferably in slums.
· Proven experience on business development coaching of SMEs
· Proven experience in installing soft wares for data management, data entering, analyzing and reporting.
· Knowledge and skills on providing training regarding business management, Entrepreneurship development and coaching.
· Knowledge on sanitation marketing and its status in Ethiopia
