Being an employee of the Norwegian Refugee Council (NRC) in Ethiopia the Child Protection Project Officer is expected to represent NRC in a responsible manner and always act in accordance with NRC’s Code of Conduct.
Roles & Responsibilities:
General responsibilities:
The generic responsibilities of the Child Protection Project Officer include:
· Implement Child Protection activities according to plan of action;
· Prepare and develop status reports as required by management;
· Ensure proper filing of documents;
· Promote and share ideas for technical improvement.
Specific responsibilities:
· Plan, design, and develop tools for ensuring that all children-at-risk are identified and supported in a comprehensive manner that reflects their best interests, particularly in regards to family and alternative care arrangements;
· Any other activity as may be required by the NRC CP Project Coordinator.
Qualifications, Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience
Professional competencies
Generic professional competencies:
· University degree in relevant area - psychology, social work, Sociology & etc. and minimum two years of working experience from working as a Project Officer in a humanitarian/recovery context
· Previous experience from working in complex and volatile contexts
· Documented results related to the position’s responsibilities
· Some knowledge of English
Context/ Specific skills, knowledge and experience:
· Knowledge of the Shire Operation Area.
· Knowledge of the Tigrigna local language
