JOB SUMMARY
Reporting to the Finance Director, the Finance Manager will lead the accounting team and be responsible for the recording, adjustment, reconciliation, and reporting all financial information.
This position includes responsibility for all Ethiopian portfolio companies and basic accounting for international holding companies.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Accounting Policy and Controls
· Implement and maintain accounting policy and processes in compliance with both IFRS and local regulatory guidance
· Develop and implement improvements to financial controls
· Maintain accounting software system and initiate periodic improvements
Budget and Treasury
· Review budget vs. actual reports for accuracy and provide commentary to management and user departments as issues arise
· Manage Company cash allocation plan
· Ensure accounts payable are paid, and accounts receivable collected, in a timely manner
· Oversee all ledger and bank account reconciliations
Reporting and Regulatory
· Oversee the consolidation of financial statements, budget vs. actual reporting, and other reports as required, providing commentary and ensuring accurate and timely presentation to management.
· Responsible for ensuring timely and accurate reports are provided to investors/funders as required
· Maintain appropriate Company documentation and compliance with regulatory and tax-related requirements
· Coordinate the provision of information to external auditors for the annual Ethiopian audits
· Monitor debt levels and compliance with debt covenants
Coaching and Development
· Assess skills of department members and develop a training plan to ensure they are continuing to become more effective
· Provide overall leadership for the day-to-day operations of the Accounting Department
· Provide feedback in a constructive way to peers, subordinates, MD and CFO
· In addition, the Finance Manager will be responsible for other assignments from time to time as required.
COMPETENCIES
· Hands on experience in developing organizational budgets, general book keeping and month end closing procedures i.e. reconciliations of the various finance lines.
· Track record in achieving financial reporting deadlines
· Capable to manage profitability and find creative solutions addressing financial problems
· Good analytical, decision making and problem solving skills.
· A self-starter, high energy level with strong interpersonal and communication skills.
· Strong team player with a “roll up your sleeves and get the job done” attitude

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
· Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a relevant field
· Relevant professional qualification; (ACCA/CPA/CA)- added advantage
EXPERIENCE REQUIRED
· At least 5 years’ relevant experience with at least 1 years at leadership level
