ROLE PURPOSE:
The incumbent of this position represents SC values and principles in interactions with staff and external audiences. These values and principles include commitment to the mission of Save the Children international, team orientation, quality management and leadership development, introducing systems and procedures to strengthen staff motivation and productivity. The post holder will be responsible for implementation, conduct training, monitoring and review of health and nutrition components of the Multi-sector and Integrated Community Based Resilience Building Project in Afar. S/he will be expected to work closely with the target communities; the project team particularly health and nutrition, sub-office and respective operational district and regional level stakeholders. S/he will be responsible for the timely implementation of the health and nutrition activities as per the approved project document; and government and donor requirements and Save the Children standards.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
This post focuses on emergency/humanitarian programming, but will be expected to contribute to SCI’s dual mandate and support as needed in both emergencies and development settings.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Essential
· BSC in Nursing or Health Officer/Public Health
· Minimum of 2 years’ experience in implementing humanitarian integrated projects in NGOs or similar organization in pastoral areas
· Demonstrated experience in supporting, organizing and facilitating trainings
· Experience and up-to-date knowledge in the technical areas of implementing MNCH, CMAM and ICCM particularly in pastoral context preferably Afar pastoral areas
· Substantial experience at lower levels including community in coordinating, mobilizing community, planning, implementation, supervision, monitoring and reporting.
· Demonstrated work experience in implementing integrated health and nutrition interventions in a complex and demanding workload
· Ability and willingness to travel and work in rural areas where the project is implemented, within approved security frameworks
· Experience in quality assurance in a clinical setting.
· Strong interpersonal skills, communication, presentation and facilitation skills and an ability to train and mentor staff
· Cultural and gender sensitivity
· Work experience in pastoral areas and knowledge of Afar language is advantageous
· Work experience in international NGOs is an asset
· Excellent spoken and written English
· Good computer skills (particularly Excel, Word and database
