IPE Global is currently tendering for UKAID’s flagship Invest Africa Programme, and we are looking for an experienced Ethiopia investment transactions advisory expert to join our team.
Background
The UK Department for International Development (DFID) is funding the forthcoming Invest Africa programme. The objective of the programme is to promote and facilitate foreign investments into light manufacturing, agro-processing and textiles in Ethiopia, Uganda, Kenya, and Rwanda. Invest Africa will work closely with potential investors, including through identifying initial investment opportunities, providing tailored guidance on the policy and regulatory environment, conducting financial analysis, and helping investors maximise the development impact of their investments. The programme will also provide targeted technical assistance to government and regulatory bodies to help overcome constraints on foreign investment, and will take a market systems development approach to catalysing the development of private sector actors in the investment facilitation market.

Description
Subject to successful contract award following the current tender process, the Ethiopia transaction advisory expert will, in partnership with our international transaction advisory partner, help facilitate transactions between investors and potential investees. This will include advising enterprises and investors on strategy decisions and business models, advising on tax and regulatory issues, and working to identify potential investees and investors for follow-up from the rest of our team. The Ethiopia transaction advisory expert will work closely with the rest of the Ethiopia team, and will report to the Ethiopia Invest Africa Country Manager. The Ethiopia Transaction Advisory Expert will also closely with our international transaction advisory partner. This position is full-time, and based in Addis Ababa. Our expectation is that the role will be for the duration of the 7 year programme.

We are searching for someone with prior experience working in transactions advisory in Ethiopia, with deep knowledge of the Ethiopian investment climate, business networks, and rules and regulations (including tax). Experience working internationally on transactions advisory would be beneficial. A Masters in Finance or MBA would also be advantageous.
