Organizational Overview: The Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is currently operating in Ethiopia carrying out a wide range of programs to support the Ministry of Health of Ethiopia in improving the health status of the country by ensuring access and quality of health services. We are committed to increasing our effectiveness through an innovative programming approach that optimizes quality, impact and scale. Being the largest CHAI field office worldwide, we currently employ over 150 staff working in the following eight programs: The Ethiopian Hospital Management Initiative (EHMI), Maternal, Newborn and Child Health (MNH), Drug Access & Nutrition, Lab Services, Vaccines Introduction and Global Health Financing, Child Survival and Nutrition Programs.
JOB SUMMARY: Under the supervision and guidance of the Regional Immunization coordinator and Central team, the regional immunization officer (RIO) will provide both management and technical support to the region, zones, woredas, health facilities and respective PFSA hub on vaccines and cold chain management, new vaccine introduction, implementation of immunization and child health service planning and execution, vaccine delivery and other routine immunization and child health service related activities. The RIO will plan, implement and monitor the CHAI special support of immunization and child health program project activities in his/her respective areas of assignment to improve the performance of the immunization program and the cold chain and vaccine management activities, and child health services to transform vaccine delivery and improve immunization and child health services in the regions of Ethiopia. Specifically, the RIO will support to address the planned intervention to address the in-equality in immunization and child health performance in the region.
In addition, the regional immunization officer will work on cold chain management activities at sub national level that will be conducted by trained cold chain technicians, support the training and supportive supervision of vaccine handlers working at cold stores and health facilities, monitoring, evaluation and other routine immunization and child health related activities. The RIO expected to submit weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on the implementation and monitoring of the above activities to Regional Immunization coordinator and SPM/PM.

Duty station: Jigjiga, Ethiopia Somali region, with frequent travel (more than 80% of the time) to targeted zones, Woredas and Health Facilities and PFSA hubs in the region and other places out of the region as required.
