A) About FSSP Ethiopia, WUSC
The Field Support Services Project (FSSP) Ethiopia is established to provide timely and cost effective, efficient logistical, financial and administrative support services as well as technical specialist support services to Global Affairs Canada’s (GAC) programming and policy dialogues in Ethiopia. The FSSP in Ethiopia is managed through the World University Service of Canada (WUSC).
The aim of Canada’s bi-lateral development program in Ethiopia is to manage Canada’s resources effectively with accountability to achieve meaningful, sustainable results that are in line with Ethiopia’s Growth and Transformation Plan. In order to facilitate Canada’s development programs and projects in Ethiopia, FSSP Ethiopia is recruiting qualified and reliable consultant described below to contribute to specific program areas.
Food Security and Nutrition Specialist
Background:
Hunger and malnutrition remain critical issues in Ethiopia. Addressing food and nutrition security is a key element of Canada’s development assistance in Ethiopia, in particular for supporting the poorest and most vulnerable. Canada supports the Productive Safety Net Programme (PSNP) as well as nutrition projects implemented under the multi-sectoral approach. Recognizing that adolescents have been neglected in the past programming, Canada is supporting a project which aims to improve the reproductive health and nutritional status of adolescents particularly adolescent girls.
Objective
The services of a Food Security and Nutrition specialist are required to provide expert technical services and to undertake diverse tasks in order to ensure the effective and efficient results-based management of Global Affairs Canada’s bilateral human dignity and livelihoods projects/programs in Ethiopia.
Scope of work / key activities
Activities of the specialist will include, but are not limited to, the following:
· Produce analytical reports, analytical papers, guidance notes, success stories, lessons learned;
· Provide guidance on Canada’s Feminist International Assistance Policy (FIAP);
· Review Project documents: provide comments on annual work plans, narrative progress reports, evaluation reports and other relevant reports of the current Food security and Nutrition portfolio;
· Participate in joint Government/Development Partners reviews of the Productive Safety Net Program (PSNP) which include field visits and a report with observations and recommendations;
· Organize and execute project-monitoring activities;
· Develop communication materials, convene partners generally and within sector program areas; ensure effective coordination and collaboration among sector cluster project (PSNP, nutrition);
· Organize events on an as needed basis; and,
· Develop other products and activities as relevant to the effective implementation of the Ethiopia bi-lateral program and FIAP.

Time frame
