A) About FSSP Ethiopia, WUSC
The Field Support Services Project (FSSP) Ethiopia is established to provide timely and cost effective, efficient logistical, financial and administrative support services as well as technical specialist support services to Global Affairs Canada’s (GAC) programming and policy dialogues in Ethiopia. The FSSP in Ethiopia is managed through the World University Service of Canada (WUSC).
The aim of Canada’s bi-lateral development program in Ethiopia is to manage Canada’s resources effectively with accountability to achieve meaningful, sustainable results that are in line with Ethiopia’s Growth and Transformation Plan. In order to facilitate Canada’s development programs and projects in Ethiopia, FSSP Ethiopia is recruiting qualified and reliable consultant described below to contribute to specific program areas.
Agricultural Specialist
Background:
Agriculture is the dominant sector in the Ethiopian economy and an important tool for sustainable economic growth. It generates close to 45% of GDP and employs 85% of the population. Agriculture in Ethiopia is dominated by small-holder and largely subsistence farming with low productivity on fragmented and highly degraded lands. Leading the sector to higher productivity and increased commercialization is fundamental to poverty reduction and food security.
Objective
The services of an agricultural specialist are required to provide expert technical advice and support, and to undertake diverse tasks in order to ensure the effective and efficient results-based management of Global Affairs Canada’s bilateral human dignity and livelihoods’ projects/programs in Ethiopia.
